Follow these steps before and during every shoot to get the best results for professional editing.
Remove clutter & mess
A clean space photographs dramatically better
Clear countertops — remove appliances, mail, dishes
Remove personal items — photos, toiletries, kids' toys
Hide cables, chargers, and power strips
Remove rubbish bins from view
Straighten cushions, make beds, close cabinet doors
Move cars out of the driveway for exterior shots
Turn on all the lights
Every light source improves the final image
Turn on every overhead light in the room
Switch on all lamps, including bedside and floor lamps
Turn on under-cabinet and feature lighting
Open all blinds and curtains to let in natural light
Avoid shooting directly into bright windows
Shoot at chest height
4–5 feet off the ground looks most natural
Hold the phone at 4–5 feet (chest height), not eye level
Keep the phone level — watch the horizon line in the camera
Shoot from a corner or doorway to show the full room
Keep the phone in landscape orientation at all times
Take 2–3 shots from different angles per room
General reminders
Small details that make a big difference
Shoot on a bright day — morning or midday light is best
Clean mirrors, windows, and glass surfaces
Use the widest lens available (0.5×) for rooms
Hold still for a full second after pressing the shutter
